Repository Policy
ISSN: 2641-5013 | Publisher: Heighten Sciences Publication Incorporation | Repository Platform: SHERPA/RoMEO Registered
Purpose and Overview
The International Journal of Clinical Virology (IJCV) supports the principles of open research and encourages authors to make their research outputs publicly accessible through institutional or subject repositories. This Repository Policy outlines the rights of authors to self-archive their works while maintaining appropriate citation and licensing under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license.
This policy aligns with global repository frameworks including SHERPA/RoMEO, DOAJ, and COPE standards for self-archiving transparency.
Scope of the Policy
IJCV permits the deposit of all versions of an article—preprint, accepted manuscript, and published version (Version of Record)—in institutional, subject-based, or public repositories, subject to citation and license conditions described below.
Versions Permitted for Archiving
| Version | Permitted Repository Deposit | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Preprint | Allowed in any open preprint server (e.g., bioRxiv, medRxiv) | Must include DOI and statement: “This is a preprint and has not been peer reviewed.” |
| Accepted Manuscript (Postprint) | Allowed in institutional and subject repositories immediately after acceptance | Must link to the final DOI and carry CC BY 4.0 notice. |
| Published Version (Version of Record) | Allowed for self-archiving without embargo | Must retain IJCV layout, citation, and license statement. |
Repository Types
- Institutional Repositories: e.g., university or departmental archives.
- Disciplinary Repositories: e.g., PubMed Central, Zenodo, Europe PMC.
- Public or Funding-Mandated Repositories: including repositories required by Plan S or Horizon Europe policies.
License and Attribution Requirements
All deposited versions must include the following attribution statement:
“This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The definitive version is available at https://www.clinvirologyjournal.com/ with DOI [insert DOI].”
Authors must not modify, remove, or obscure publisher branding or the journal’s copyright notice when depositing the Version of Record.
Open Access Compliance
IJCV’s repository policy fully complies with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and mandates no embargo on sharing accepted manuscripts or published articles. All articles remain openly accessible under the CC BY 4.0 license.
Indexing and Discoverability
IJCV metadata is harvested via OAI-PMH protocol and made available for indexing in repositories and scholarly search engines such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, OpenAIRE, and CORE. Each published article is assigned a Crossref DOI for persistent linking.
Repository Metadata Requirements
- Article Title
- Author(s) and ORCID IDs
- Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Virology (IJCV)
- ISSN: 2641-5013
- DOI and URL to the official Version of Record
- License: CC BY 4.0
Data and Supplementary Material Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit underlying datasets, supplementary figures, and protocols in data repositories such as Figshare, Dryad, or Mendeley Data. Each dataset should include a DOI and a link back to the corresponding article on IJCV’s website.
Third-Party Repository Inclusion
IJCV authorizes third-party repositories and library systems to mirror or link its published articles provided:
- The source and DOI are cited accurately.
- No commercial exploitation occurs.
- The CC BY 4.0 license conditions are maintained.
Version Control and Record Integrity
Authors depositing multiple versions must label them clearly as “Preprint,” “Accepted Manuscript,” or “Published Version.” Repositories must ensure version control metadata and DOI linkage to prevent citation confusion.
Embargo Policy
There are no embargoes on self-archiving. All versions of IJCV articles may be shared immediately upon acceptance or publication.
Repository Registration and Verification
IJCV is registered with SHERPA/RoMEO for transparency regarding its self-archiving policy. Authors can verify compliance requirements using the repository database before submission.
Compliance with Funding Bodies
This policy fulfills open access requirements of major research funders such as:
- European Research Council (ERC)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
- Plan S / cOAlition S
Policy for Repository Harvesting and Linking
Repositories are permitted to harvest metadata and link directly to IJCV articles via OAI-PMH. Direct duplication of full-text PDFs for commercial redistribution is not allowed without written permission from the publisher.
Amendments to Repository Policy
IJCV reserves the right to revise this policy periodically in response to technological or legal developments in open access publishing. Updated versions are immediately reflected on the journal’s website.
