Author Guidelines

1. Introduction
The International Journal of Clinical Virology (IJCV) welcomes original research, reviews, case reports, and communications related to virology, molecular diagnostics, epidemiology, and vaccine research. Authors must adhere to these detailed guidelines to ensure smooth peer review and publication. The journal follows standards of the ICMJE and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
2. Manuscript Types
- Original Research Articles – Full reports of novel findings (4,000–6,000 words).
- Review Articles – Comprehensive overviews of current advances (5,000–8,000 words).
- Short Communications – Concise studies or preliminary data (1,500–2,500 words).
- Case Reports – Detailed clinical cases illustrating new insights (1,500–3,000 words).
- Editorials / Opinions – Expert commentary or perspectives (up to 1,500 words).
3. Manuscript Preparation
- Use Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format with double spacing.
- Font: Times New Roman, 12-pt size; margins 1 inch on all sides.
- Continuous line numbering is recommended.
- Number all pages consecutively.
4. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should be arranged as follows:
- Title Page: Title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author contact, ORCID IDs.
- Abstract: 250 words max, structured with Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
- Keywords: 3–6 terms reflecting study content.
- Introduction: Clearly state purpose, hypothesis, and relevance.
- Materials and Methods: Detailed for reproducibility; include ethics approval and consent where applicable.
- Results: Use concise tables and figures with proper legends.
- Discussion: Interpret findings and link to literature.
- Conclusion: Brief summary of findings and implications.
- Acknowledgments: Funding and contributions.
- References: Follow Vancouver/NLM style.
5. Figure and Table Guidelines
- Figures must be high-resolution (≥300 dpi) in JPG or TIFF format.
- Each figure and table should be cited sequentially in the text.
- Legends must be descriptive and concise.
- Tables should not repeat information already provided in figures.
6. Reference Style (Vancouver)
Use Arabic numerals in square brackets [ ]. Examples:
1. Smith J, Brown A. Advances in viral diagnostics. J Clin Virol. 2024;150:45-52.
2. WHO. Global Hepatitis Report 2023. Geneva: World Health Organization; 2023.
References should be listed in numerical order as cited in the manuscript.
7. Ethical Considerations
- Human studies must conform to the Declaration of Helsinki.
- Animal experiments must comply with institutional and national guidelines.
- Clinical trials should be registered (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov).
- Include informed consent statements where patient data is used.
8. Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose all financial or personal relationships that could bias their work. Conflict of interest statements are mandatory for all submissions.
9. Funding and Acknowledgments
All sources of financial support must be listed under Acknowledgments, including grant numbers and funding agencies. Transparency is essential to comply with COPE and ICMJE disclosure standards.
10. Language and Editing
All manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatical English. Authors for whom English is a second language are encouraged to use professional editing services prior to submission.

- Click Submit Manuscript and follow step-by-step instructions on the OJS platform.
- Upload all required files: main text, figures, tables, cover letter, and supplementary data.
12. Peer Review and Revision
IJCV operates a double-blind peer review. Review comments are communicated via email and OJS. Authors must submit revised manuscripts within the specified time and include a point-by-point response document.
13. Copyright and License
All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License. Authors retain copyright while granting IJCV permission to distribute and archive the article.
14. Plagiarism Policy
All submissions are screened through plagiarism detection software (iThenticate / Turnitin). Any overlap beyond 15 % is investigated per COPE guidelines.
15. Proofs and Publication
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and typesetting. Authors receive PDF proofs for approval. Corrections should be limited to typographical or factual errors. Publication occurs immediately after proof confirmation.
16. Post-Publication Corrections
Errors identified after publication are corrected via errata or corrigenda as per IJCV’s Withdrawal Policy. Major corrections or retractions follow COPE procedures.
17. Article Processing and Charges
APCs cover all editorial and hosting costs (USD 1,849). No submission or color figure fees apply. Waivers and discounts are available under IJCV’s Waiver Policy.
18. Authorship Criteria
Authorship is based on ICMJE criteria: substantial contribution, drafting/revising, approval of final version, and accountability for integrity. Changes in authorship after submission require written consent from all authors.
19. Data Availability
Authors should deposit relevant datasets in open repositories (e.g., Figshare, Zenodo) and include data DOI links. The Data Availability Statement is mandatory in all manuscripts.
